What is the price range for tickets to this year’s production?
Tickets for this year’s production range from $18 – $50, plus fees. Tickets can be found here.
Where can I find a schedule of show times for this year’s production?
This year’s Variety Theatre production will run for nine performances from Oct. 18 – 27, 2019. Specific show dates and times, and tickets, can be found here.
Are there ADA seats available?
A select number of accessible ADA seating is available for each show. For more information, and to purchase tickets, contact the Touhill Box Office at 314-516-4949.
Is there parking available for the show?
Yes, ample free parking is available on the UMSL campus near the Touhill Performing Arts Center.
What time do doors open prior to the show?
The box office opens one hour prior to the show, with the doors to the theatre opening a half hour before the show begins.
Are there any interactive elements for kids?
Yes, children of all ages are invited to meet Mary Poppins both before the show and during intermission. Meet-and-greets typically begin about an hour before the show begins, and are available at each show with the exception of the 10 a.m. Friday shows.
Do you sell any merchandise?
No, we do not sell merchandise of any kind.
Are food and beverages sold during the show?
Yes, light snacks as well as both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages may be purchased at the snack bar.
Get Involved with Variety Theatre
Do I need previous experience to audition?
Variety Theatre is an inclusive production company and all children are invited to audition. No previous experience is necessary. Equity and non-Equity actors are encouraged to audition for adult roles.
Can children with all abilities audition?
Yes. Our Children’s Ensemble is completely inclusive and we encourage kids and teens of all abilities to audition for our productions.
I don’t want to be on stage – are there other positions available?
Yes, we have an internship program that is available for those ages 13 to 20 and we accept those with all abilities. For more information, and to apply today, visit our Internship Program page.
Do you have any volunteer opportunities?
Yes, we do have limited volunteer opportunities for each production. For more information, visit our Volunteer page.
How old do you have to be to audition?
Our age requirements change with each production. This information can be found on our Auditions page once that year’s production is announced.
When are auditions?
Specific audition dates fluctuate each year, but are typically in early-to-mid May. For more audition information, please visit our Auditions page.
What is the time commitment for actors/actresses?
Time commitment varies depending on the role. We begin rehearsals in September, which run through the show in late October. To get a feel for our rehearsal schedule, click here.
